Welcome to Lutley Primary School!

Thank you for logging onto our website - it gives us the opportunity to share a little of our school with you so that you can get a flavour of what life is like in our busy and happy school.

My name is Jeannette Mackinney and I am very proud to be the Headteacher of this wonderful school.

Lutley is highly successful, with an excellent reputation within the borough of Dudley. The recent OFSTED inspection in March 2010 judged our school to be outstanding. We were awarded with 21 judgements of outstanding and the remaining seven were judged to be good. Teaching, pupil achievement and leadership and management were all judged to be outstanding.

We are a three-form entry school and we have three classes of approximately 28 children in each year group. The school is built on two floors, which results in all our children being in close proximity.

The school achieves an ethos of family care despite its being one of the largest primaries in the borough.

The behaviour of pupils is excellent and this contributes to an ideal atmosphere for learning and personal growth. Pupils are very proud to be part of the school and they develop into positive, polite and friendly young people. They are respectful towards each other so every pupil feels valued as an individual even in a larger than average school. Pupils feel very safe in the school and display an excellent understanding of the issues relating to safety.” OFSTED inspection March 2010

Our children enter the school in Reception from supportive, interested homes. Our induction programme into Reception enables parents to maintain an active partnership in their child’s learning throughout the vital primary years.

We welcome parents into school and endeavour to keep positive communication channels open so that all our families feel able to share hopes, dreams and concerns with us.

We have high expectations at Lutley and we expect everyone to do their best. Not all children are academics so we aim to encourage an atmosphere of respect and celebration where individuals can work towards their unique potential, recognising that best efforts are rewarded and rewarding. As a staff we aim to model this approach through giving our very best, recognising that we too need to be active in securing individual development to achieve all that we can.

I look forward very much to welcoming you to our school family. I enjoy showing families around school to see teaching and learning in action. Parents can pick up the ‘feel’ of the school at this time and see how children and staff relate to each other. Ours is a happy, secure and rigorous environment and a tour of the school will demonstrate the respect, the fun and the challenge therein.
